Better late than never. Finally after being delayed for a whole year the FOW & BUGS walking weekend finally got off the ground. This was a joint event between BUGS and FOW with a pleasant mixture of both.
The weekend started with Spanna being late thanks to SouthWest Trains but managed to arrive in Abervagenny only 2 mins after the minibus from Bath. For the weekend we were accommodated at Diccon’s parents house in Abervagenny.

The Saturday walk was up Pen-Y-Fan near Brecon. The views from the top of this 886m mountain weren’t the best I’ve seen due to the weather but still impressive as Pen-y-Fan has a flat top with very step sides. Even though the day ended with rain it was still a very good achievement by all. The evening was laced with chicken and pasta along with helpings of beer. Sunday we tackled a local mountain near Abervagenny, Table Mountain. This proved to be an extremely interesting day as the wind had got up and made walking up the mountain a battle. The weekend was enjoyed by all and hopefully we will be able to organise another for next year. Review by Spanna Next Year: I’m thinking of organising two events, one similar to this year but also a pub walking weekend if people are interested. |
